White crochet thread
Black worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart)
Off white or Natural worsted weight yarn ( I used Bernat Softey Chunky)
6mm Black/Blue Safety or Sew-on eyes (optional)
Polly or Fiber Fill Sew on Snaps
3.5mm Crochet Hook Needle and thread
Size 10 crochet thread hook
Throughout this Pattern the Turning Chain DOESN’T count as a stitch.
You can use any starting method you like, IE: Magic Ring, Chain 2 crochet in 2
nd chain from
hook or adjustable slip knot. This pattern is written as if you used Magic Ring. Make each piece
in order as written. Please read the footnotes at the end of pattern for the Amigurumi Version.
Eye Rings Make 2
With white crochet thread: ch 8, join w/sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch 2, 16 dc in ring. Join w/sl st to 1st dc. Finish off 16 sts
Head
With black yarn make a Magic Ring.
Rnd 1: ch 1 sc 6 times in ring. Join w/sl st 6 sts
Rnd 2: ch 1 sc in joining st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc , 2 sc, 1 sc, 2 sc. Join w/sl st. 9 sts.
Rnd 3: ch 1 sc in joining st, sc around. Join w/sl st. 9 sts
Rnd 4: ch 1 sc in joining st, 1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts, 3 sc in next, 2 sc in next 2 sts,
1 sc in last st. Join w/sl st. 15 sts
Rnd 5-7: ch 1 sc in joining st, sc around. Join w/sl st. 15 sts
Put eye ring around post of eyes and place eyes.
Rnd 8: c1 sc in joining st, 1 sc 1 scdec 4 times, 1 sc. Join w/sl st. 11 sts
Start Stuffing
Rnd 9: ch1 scdec using the joining st to start, scdec 4 times, 1 sc. Join w/sl st. 6 sts
Finish Stuffing
Rnd 10: ch 1 cut yarn long and pull through tight. Use tail to sew opening shut. The remaining
yarn will be used to sew the head to the body
Body:
With off white/natural yarn make a Magic Ring.
Rnd 1: ch 1 6 sc in ring, Pull tight join w/sl st. 6 sts
Rnd 2: ch1 2 sc in joining st, sc around. Join w/sl st. 12 sts
Rnd 3: ch 1 sc in joining st and in next st, 2 sc, (1 sc, 1sc, 2 sc) 3 times. Join w/sl st. 16 sts
Rnd 4: ch 1 sc in joining st and in next 2 sts, 2sc in next, (1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc) repeat around.
Join w/sl st. 20 sts
Rnd 5: Repeat Rnd 4. 25 sts
Rnd 6: Repeat Rnd 4 to last 2 sts, 1 sc in last 2 sts. 30 sts.
Rnd 7: ch 1 sc in joining st and around. Join w/sl st. 30 sts
Rnd 8: ch 1 sc in joining st and around.
Do Not Join !! 30 sts
Row 9-12: ch 1, turn sc in 1st st and across. 30 sts
Row 13: ch 5, turn sc in 2nd st from hook and across. 34 sts
Row 14-15: ch 1, turn sc in 1st st and across. 34 sts
Row 16: ch 1, sc in 1st st and across to Last 4 sts, leave last 4 empty. 30 sts
Row 17: ch 1, sc in 1st st and across. 30 sts
Row 18: ch 1, sc in 1st st and across. Join w/sl st to 1st st of row 18. 30 sts
Rnd 19: ch 1 sc in joining st and around. Join w/sl st. 30 sts
Rnd 20: ch 1 sc in joining st, scdec in next st, (1 sc 1 scdec) 9 times. Join w/sl st. 20 sts
Rnd 21: ch 1 sc in joining st, (1sc 1 scdec) 6 times. Join w/sl st. 14 sts
Rnd 22: ch 1 sc in joining st, (1 sc 1 scdec) 4 times. 1 sc in last st. Join w/sl st. 10 sts
Rnd 23: ch 1 sl st dec in joining st and around, sl st in last st. Join w/sl st. 4 sts.
Rnd 24: ch 1 pull long tail and pull through tightly. Use tail to sew opening shut. This end is the
“rear”
Legs: Make 4
With black yarn make a Magic Ring.
Rnd 1: ch 1, 6 sc in ring. Pull tight, join w/sl st. 6 sts
Rnd 2: ch 1 sc in joining st, 1 sc, 2 sc in next, 1 sc, 1sc, 2 sc in last st. Join w/sl st. 8 sts
Rnd 3: ch 1 sc in joining st, 1 sc around. Join w/sl st. 8 sts.
Change to off while/natural yarn.
Rnd 4-7: ch 1 sc in joining st, 1 sc around. Join w/sl st. 8 sts.
Rnd 8: ch 1 cut long tail and pull trough tightly. The tail will be used to sew the legs to the body.
Stuff and sew to body.
Ears: Make 2
With black yarn. LEAVE A LONG TAIL TO START!!
Row 1: ch 4 sc in 2nd chain from hook and across. 3 sts
Row 2-3: ch 1 sc in 1st st and across. 3 sts
Row 4: ch 1 scdec with 1st & 2nd st, 1 sc in last st. 2 sts
Row5: ch 1 scdec with 1st st & 2nd st. 1 st. Finish off. Weave in end and Affix to head.
Tail
With off white/natural yarn.
Row 1: ch 4, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc to end 6 sts. Finish off leave long tail to sew to body
Attach all pieces to the body. When you attach the head take your thumb and make an indent in
the body, press the head in the dip and sew in place. With a similar body color sew the snaps in
place . One on the flap and the other on the body.
If you choose to make this an Amigurumi. When you reach Row 8 Join at the end. Then repeat
Row 8 until you have 17 rows, then start Row 20. The body of the sheep is longer for the change
version. This is a free pattern
